Young People Who Care ministers to the needs of people in Central Appalachia Pennsylvania. Volunteers provide services not provided by other groups or agencies. YPWC is one mission which responds to the cries of the poor. This mission is special and unique in that the persons who volunteer are invited to live a life of solidarity with the poor.

"I came to YPWC because in my heart I was looking for a place to be of service to people, to be in touch with the needs of others, to find a place where I COULD GIVE MY SELF. It's done very easily here, and it's done with a lot of joy because it's done in community."

 
 
Volunteer Opportunities

Short Term Volunteer

  • 1 week to 6 months
  • Volunteers live in Christian Community on site of ministries
  • Service opportunities available in all of YPWC, Inc. Ministries

Long Term Volunteer

  • 6 months to a year or longer
  • Volunteers live in a Christian Community on site of ministries
  • Service opportunities available in all of YPWC, Inc. Ministries
  • Room and Board provided
  • Health Insurance provided after 3 months as a volunteer
  • AmeriCorps certified
  • School loan deferment available
  • Spiritual and educational opportunities provided

Volunteer Programs

We have several opportunities for direct service in a number of areas at Young People Who Care, Inc. They include direct service, assisting with retreats, leadership positions, experience in retreat work and religious education.
